Release Information

Data reports the exports and imports of goods. The data supplied to the NSO by the traders on the root of Customs (extra-EU) and Intrastat (intra-EU) declarations. The Imports are priced by using cost, insurance and freight. Exports are priced by free on board. Data is reported in millions of euro and includes main group classifications.

Trade data including both non-EU and EU trade are included in the foreign trade statistics. Data up to April 2004 was previously compiled using mainly customs declarations. After April 2004 the custom departments changed how they collected data and now collects basic non-EU trading data. The monthly data from the Maltese Islands is also include in the foreign trade data. Intra-EU data is obtained by the supplementary declaration system. All transactions are exempted below 700.
