Release Information

Here are a couple of definitions provided by the source:

  • A live-born is a child immediately showed signs of life after birth. Some of these signs include breathing, beating of the heart, and muscle twitches. The period of the sign can be only for a short period.
  • Live-births per 1000 population is the ratio between the number of live births in the calendar year and the midyear population of the same year for a given area, multiplied by 1000.

Data on live-births was previously collected on forms completed by employees of administrative internal affairs departments at administrative units based on registry books. Since May 2005, records are recorded in the Register of Births, Deaths, and Marriages where facts are electronically recorded in the Central Population Register. The Institute for Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia also keeps databases for data on births.

Preliminary data is posted in June followed by the final data posted in October.
