National Urban - The National Statistical System (NSS) Consumer Price Index addresses aspects related to the geographical representation of the indicator. The indicator covers the entire urban population of the 24 jurisdictions that comprise Argentina.

Alternative CPI - The IPC of the Provincial Bureau of Statistics Census and the province of San Luis and the IPC of the Directorate General of Statistics and Census Buenos Aires are collected independently from the INDEC with sound methodologies. These indicators act as a guideline to the overall national CPI. These are not replacements.

National Urban

Prices of a fixed basket of goods and services are obtained to calculate monthly consumer price index, 160 people are interviewed on approximately 230,000 prices over 13,000 local informants. Prices observed in the sample of informants are selected from sampling frames made ??by the INDEC. The organization of the operating field and the determination of local informants make up the daily workload of interviewers. The areas where local informants are located are:

  • Areas with high business concentration
  • Areas with supermarkets and hypermarkets
  • Areas with scattered businesses (including stores, butchers, etc.)

In turn, local informants were categorized and identified using the categories Information. For example: multiple business category (supermarket) stores, bakeries, dry cleaners, hairdressers, etc.
