Wholesale price index of Argentina expressed in year-over-year percent change. There are 3 different indexes used in the wholesale prices: Internal Index Wholesale Prices (IPIM), Internal Basic Price Index Wholesale (IPIB) and Basic Price Index Producer (IPP).
These 3 indexes are used in combination to gather a more robust understanding of wholesale prices within Argentina.
The system wholesale price index was create to provide alternatives to information on price developements at the wholesale stage. There are three different rates:
Internal Index Wholesale Prices (IPIM)
This measures the average evoluton of proces which the producer or importer sells the products in the domestic market. Value Added Tax (VAT), excise taxes on fuel, net of explicit subsidiaries are included. Explicit subsidiaries may include capital goods. The export value of caluclating the relative weight of each activity is excluded since it it being sold domestically.
Internal Basic Price Index Wholesale (IPIB)
The weighting is done in two levels: the activity and the product. The source weights the products within the activities. The information in gathered from 1,400 reporting units, 2,800 prices that make up the calulation of the three indicators, and includes producers and importers across the country. The Laspeyres type formula is used. The IPIB does not inclide the tax effect
Basic Price Index Producer (IPP)
This measures the average change of priecs perceived by local producers for it's production. The supply of imported goods is excluded.
Previously, series were reported as an index. Revisions may occur if source decides to advance the base year.
