Monthly Industrial Estimator (EMI) measures the performance of the manufacturing sector on the basis of information provided by leading companies, chambers of commerce and public bodies that report on representative outputs and inputs.
The group consists of the industrial sector and companies were chosen on the basis of a preliminary look into the relationships between different industrial activities. Thus it finds what products may either directly or indirectly stand as a representative indicator of production, or the main constitute input of various other sectors.
The calculation of the EMI is based on units Physical production of many different industrial sectors. The conceptual and methodological aspects are reviewed and certain opertaional mechanisms are put into place to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the information
In 2017, the source changed the analytic form (for the detailed dataset) from index (1994 to 2016) to percent change (from 2016). Later, they resumed publishing the headline in index form.
