For France, monthly population (specifically, for France Métropolitaine, i.e., the mainland), as reported by INSEE.
This survey is drawn from an estimated population on 1 January taking into account the final results of Census. For subsequent years, this estimate is updated based on vital statistics and an estimate of net migration.
The new population figures on 1 January 2006 by the census led to recalculate the population counts from 1 January 2000, they are permanent while estimates of population on 1 January 2007, 2008 and 2009 are provisional (cf. . Insee Première n ° 1220). Demographic indicators were also calculated for 1999 and all subsequent years.
Geographical scope - Data is available on two fields: France metropolitan and France (metropolitan departments and overseas). The islands of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, formerly in Guadeloupe, changed status since July 15, 2007 and became communities overseas. At that time they had left France immediately. To avoid creating broken field in the series, they have actually been excluded from France for all years running.
We compute a seasonally adjusted counterpart.
Yes. Data are provisional until year end.
