The source writes:

Target population: Companies headquartered in the national territory whose economic industry classification falls within sectors B,C,D and E of the CAE Rev.3 classification system. To qualify, the companies production or goods must in whole or in part, be attributed to the national market.

The source uses a three phase system to determine a sample. First products for each economic activity are listed in descending order of sales values and selected until at minimum coverage of 70% of the value of each group is acheived. This guarantees that the minimum coverage of all classes that are members of each group does not fall below 40%. The source then choses enough companies from the first phase so as to acheive a minimum coverage of 80% of sales of those products to the domestic market. Finally, the source sends this list to companies producing the selected products requesting the indication, position, their detailed specifications and the representative of the sales in the domestic market.

The sample is made up of about 2160 companies, with about 11300 prices being collected monthly.
